This role sits within Streets Chartered Accountants, a well-established and growing UK-based professional services group. Streets has expanded significantly in recent years through both organic growth and acquisitions, building a strong national presence and a diverse client base.

You will be joining a smaller, close-knit team within the group that focuses on delivering a high-quality, personal service to a portfolio of primarily owner-managed businesses. Clients range from small start-ups through to established, multi-million-pound entities across a variety of sectors.

The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join the team on a fully remote basis from South Africa. This is an excellent opportunity for a more junior candidate looking to build a long-term career within a UK accountancy practice.

The role will predominantly focus on accounts preparation and corporation tax work, with some exposure to bookkeeping and VAT, providing strong all-round development.

Given the current team structure is relatively senior-heavy, there is a genuine focus on training, mentorship, and developing junior talent.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for a range of owner-managed clients

• Supporting the preparation of corporation tax computations and returns

• Working across a varied client base, from small businesses to multi-million-pound entities

• Assisting with bookkeeping tasks where required

• Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns

• Maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with client queries

• Liaising with senior team members to ensure timely and accurate delivery of work

Requirements

• Some experience within an accountancy practice (UK exposure beneficial)

• Exposure to accounts preparation and/or corporation tax

• Basic understanding of bookkeeping and VAT

• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment

• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
