MD Streets is a multi-disciplinary Cape Town-based firm of Chartered Accountants providing accounting, audit, compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients.

We are looking for a newly qualified SAIPA professional ready to take the next step into a senior, client-facing accounting role

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with clients, taking ownership of their work, solving accounting and compliance queries, and supporting the development of junior team members.

The Opportunity

As Senior Accountant, you will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients, overseeing their monthly accounting and compliance requirements while ensuring accurate and timely financial information.

You will work closely with clients and colleagues across the practice and will have the opportunity to further develop your technical accounting, tax, client management and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the monthly accounting function and ensure client work is completed accurately and on time

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts

• Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and compliance requirements

• Prepare and review Annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs

• Provide clients with accounting and software support

• Deal directly with clients and manage day-to-day correspondence and queries

• Manage, mentor and train junior accounting staff and SAIPA trainees

• Review work for accuracy, completeness and compliance

• Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within the accounting function

• Take ownership of deadlines and deliverables across your client portfolio

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Completed SAIPA articles

Experience & Technical Knowledge

• Previous experience in a similar accounting practice environment

• Strong technical knowledge of VAT

• Sound knowledge of company and individual taxation

• Experience preparing and/or reviewing Annual Financial Statements

• Experience with monthly accounting and management accounts

• Pastel Partner experience

• Sage One experience

• Caseware knowledge

• Highly computer literate, particularly in Outlook, Word and Excel

Practical Requirements

• Cape Town based

• Own reliable transport

• Valid South African driver's licence

• Comfortable working in an office-based environment
